I splash, you splash, we need a backsplash

Updated...the poll is closed and the votes were:
3 votes for the long white tile
1 for the white penny tile
12 for the glass tile
and 1 for something else

Okay my opinionated friends...what do you think of the options below? Keep in mind that we have white cabinets, white/gray countertops, and the floor will be a dark gray/black slate. Vote in the poll on the right and, like always, if you have a strong opinion leave me a comment and let me know why you chose what you did. Thanks!

My 'safety-zone' is white. If I choose a simple white backsplash I can paint my kitchen whatever color I want at any time. But, it's not all that fun and unique...it's pretty boring actually. The long white tile you see in the picture below is Option #1.

Option #2 is also white but a bit more fun. It's a white penny tile that has a vintage feel.
Option #2

The final option is one that I love, but it limits the color choices I can use in the rest of the kitchen so I've been a bit unsure. The picture doesn't really do the tile justice. These glass tiles are various shades of blue and gray. The stone tiles are the same as the countertop. If I chose this one I'd actually choose the same tiles but in longer lengths, more of a mosaic. I also might pepper in some clear and stainless pieces too.
Options #3

Which would you choose?

  1. I like the first long white tile, and also the glass mosaic. could you possibly use both? Or maybe some other combination? You can keep the tile neutral, but add a lot of interest by mixing different sizes, shapes, textures, etc. Check out the pics of our new backsplash. It is my FAVORITE part of our whole kitchen! Can't wait to see pics of the house when it is finished. It is going to be beautiful!

  2. I really like #3. Especially with your countertops. Looking at the smoothness of your countertops compared with option #1, they look like the same texture. When paired with #2 or #3, it helps define the two separate spaces. Hope all is well in your world!

  3. I'd choose three. And having seen it, I don't think you're as limitied to certain colors as you may think. It's all very neutral. Really.

I also like jennifer's ^ idea above. if you do choose white, mix it up a little.
