Charlie & Aster

The amazing Farrah from Mingo & Grace has released her first pattern called the Charlie dress and it's to.die.for. Of course it's stylish because Farrah has the best style around. But I was even blown away by the layout of the pattern tutorial itself. What a great pattern! You can get it in the Mingo & Grace shop, or through the end of July as a Sewing Rabbit Pattern Member.

I paired it with an Aster cardigan made from the pattern by LBG Studio for Willow & Co. I love the professional finishing on this cardigan. The faux piped collar is so easy to make. It's even pretty on the inside. (the Charlie dress is too because the neckline and arm holes are bound with bias tape inside)

One of my favorite details on the outfit is the button in the back of the dress. My grandma passed away last month and I found this cute carrot in a little jar of her old buttons.

When I determined which size to make of each of these pieces, I decided to size up on the Charlie dress so it can be worn next summer too. I have a feeling there will be many more twirls in this dress in the future! I wish I would also have sized up on the Aster. Next time I make one I'll definitely make it a size bigger than the girls' measurements so it can be worn over their thicker shirts. I also might try a long sleeve version for fall.
